My backyard paradise

As we are still battling the global pandemic and travel abroad is non-existing I decided to splurge a bit and fulfill an item on my bucket list

...Staying at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore...

I decided to take a little staycation and spend two nights at the Grande Dame and hoped it was everything I wanted it to be.

The only word that describes the hotel is ‘Magnifique’! Welcomed like a VIP, upgraded to a personality suite overseeing the Palm Court and a butler was only the introduction to a great stay!

The hotel was recently renovated - for the second time since it’s inception by the Sarkies brothers - the teams did an amazing job keeping the hotel its all its former glory and grandeur.

They also upgraded the dining option significantly; now housing a Michelin star restaurant Madame le Pic and the Butcher Block for your steak fix. And these are just two of the choices available.

What they also upgraded is their Singapore Sling - previously premixed and bitter - now pretty close to freshly made and pretty damn good!

Service was impeccable! From the bar and restaurants to housekeeping and butler service. I truly felt like a VIP, but I guess that is how they treat all their guests.

The breakfast experience is one to remember. Not so much the breakfast itself - although amazing - it was the actual venue. Sitting outside over looking a beautiful fountain. It gave me a bit of a ’Marie Antoinette’ vibe. The only thing that is missing was the pouffy ballgown.

Their in house history tour is worth spending an hour of your time on. The Raffles Historian has been with the hotel since ‘forever’ - he has seen two renovations - and knows a lot of the inside and outs of the hotel. He even has a couple of books in the Raffles shop. Look out for Mr Danker!!

It is bit weird that you have to book your times lots if you want to chill out by the pool, but I guess we just go with the flow and book it in. My morning laps were peaceful and tranquil while the sun came up and for the rest of my days and my stay I did absolutely nothing apart from sleeping, reading, eating and drinking.

I can’t wait to go back! Definitely worth the splurge - well done Raffles Hotel Singapore!!
