The Darling, Sydney, Australia - 5 *

The Darling, Sydney, Australia - 5 *

Stayed - 3 nights from 25 Nov 18

Room and Tpye - Suite 1573 - Stellar Suite

Views - Pyrmont View, nice enough but they do have Darling Harbour View Suites with water views.

Hint: Ask for a room away from elevators, this room was nice a quiet having a separate lobby entrance. If calling the hotel to book, ask what special upgrades they have for a Stellar Suite - read below, you won't be disappointed. Although not classed as a "city or CBD" hotel, it is only a short walk via the Darling Harbour pedestrian bridge into the centre of downtown.

Wow factor - Everything about this Suite was Wow. They’ve removed an entire floor above to give the double height ceilings and massive floor to ceiling windows. My view was a Pyrmont view, would have loved the water view but not complaining!

Special treat - the exclusive Lalique bath products and the special touches at the mini (maxi) bar.

Who with? Solo again but seeing many friends.

Would I stay here again? Excellent, can’t complain at all. Double thumbs up!

Experience

Had a great meal at Black Bar and Grill, amazing meal and service, my first restaurant experience at The Star but a worthy contender for best steak in Australia. Try it out, but beware the steaks are Huge, so go easy on the sides.

Even though The Darling is attached to the casino, you would never know. An amazing pool and OMG spa, restaurants by the gallon and most of Sydney’s celebrity chefs in one stretch it’s easy to forget you are staying at a casino, but one thing that is on offer is space space space! As a regular traveler to Sydney my normal digs were over $500 per night - crazy (and I won’t mention their name), so online I went. Saw a “suite deal” at The Darling for $400 and jumped at it. So glad I did. The room is amazing, double height ceilings, and floor to ceiling glass makes the room ‘float’ across the expansive view over Pyrmont and further towards the airport (as I alluded to earlier, there are better water views on the other side of the hotel, but at a primo price).

The foyer of this room is larger than most hotel rooms. And at over 100sqm, the entire suite is massive. The bed is king (obviously) and is super soft, but it’s the palatial bathroom that makes this suite. Besides the super sized dressing area and double vanities, there is a most amazingly supersized shower room, 2 x showers followed by the biggest bath (with jets). It’s a serious cleaning room and I dare anyone to walk out less than spotless.

Both the bedroom and living room enjoy the floor to ceiling views, and a separate 1/2 bathroom allows for privacy in the bedroom and main bathroom with sliding doors.

I’m not a gambler but to be honest, I would definitely stay here again, few hotels in Sydney - including those massively over priced Harbour front hotels - offer the space, the service and the luxury of The Darling, and the Stellar Suites. Stellar Job from The Star Casino team!
